Vince Cable will be in Cumbria this week - and the boss of the firm he is visiting has says he believes the Business Secretary would make a good Chancellor. 

Mr Cable has been at the centre of a row about whether the Government is doing enough to pull the country out of recession and will be visiting Kendal  on Wednesday with South Lakes MP Tim Farron.

He was forced to deny that he was pushing to be made Chancellor, as David Cameron faced calls from to move George Osborne out of the Treasury. Mr Cable sparked speculation over his ambitions when he told BBC2's Newsnight last night that he would "probably" make a good chancellor.

Mr Cable will visit njo Technology which specialises in the design and manufacture of long life LED lighting and tour the premises with Mr Farron before meeting with local councillors and business leaders to discuss issues facing businesses in the South Lakes.

Mr. Farron said: “We are fortunate in our area to have lots of successful business stories, particularly in the green technology sector, such as Gilkes and NJO. I look forward to bringing Vince to see this outstanding example of South Lakes business. Our meeting will be a great opportunity for everyone to discuss how both local and national government can work together to create more well paid jobs locally.”

Njo Technology has 18 years experience in the design, manufacture and installation of LED lighting systems with a wide-ranging client base covering diverse projects from residential to retail, workplace to entertainment, public sector buildings to passenger terminals.

Spokesman Simon Tebbey said: "We are part of the construction industry so we will be keen to hear that the Government has a plan for the future. It will be a good opportunity to talk to somebody high up about our industry."

Asked if he shared the view of some backbenchers that Mr Cable would make a good chancellor Mr Tebbey added: "Yes, it seems like he would be."
