 A new treetop adventure park set will open on the shores of Windermere this week.

Treetop Trek opens to the public this Friday at Brockhole and will offer tourists and adventure seekers the chance to swing, climb, balance and fly their way through the ancient woodland canopy at Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre and discover views previously reserved for the squirrels and bats.

Construction teams have been working throughout the Spring to get Treetop Trek ready, creating the course amongst 250 year old oak trees in the grounds of Brockhole.

The course consists of two parts: the Green Trek for 5 year olds and up, which takes approximately 1 hour and the Blue Trek for those who want a little more adventure for 7 year olds and up, which takes approx. 2hrs 30mins.

The new fun aerial adventure is designed with 35 exciting treetop challenges including a whole host of fun aerial obstacles from rope bridges to wobbly logs through the ancient woodland canopy finishing with an amazing 250m triple zip from the 14m Treetop tower to the shores of Windermere.

The attraction has led to a significant private investment, creating 10 jobs in the process. The ropes course has been designed by international ropes course expert Nick Moriarty and his company Ropes Course Developments Ltd, who have over the years developed more than 500 courses, in 20 different countries, serving over two million users. He is working alongside Cumbrian business man Mike Turner who was behind the hugely successful ‘Treetrekking’ activities at the four UK Centerparcs sites.

Mike Turner owner of Treetop Trek said: ‘Without doubt, adventure is still top of the agenda but we also hope participants will be able to learn more about the ancient woodland and local ecology by getting a lot closer to it.’’

Mike who lives with his family in Arnside added ‘’I spent many happy childhood days at Brockhole and am extremely proud to be part of the current extensive redevelopment programme at Brockhole.”

Ian Stephens, Managing Director of Cumbria Tourism said: ‘’Treetop Trek is exactly the type of attraction we are keen to see developed in the Lake District.
“It will give youngsters a taste of adventure and we hope will also stimulate a long term interest in adventure and in Cumbria’s great outdoors - the UK’s Adventure Capital and the country's biggest adventure playground.’’
