Construction companies are being invited to a free event in Cumbria tomorrow which could help bring them grow and win new contracts.

The one day conference will also look at the Green Deal, tender applications, building regulations and other hot topics in the construction industry.

The event has been orgranised by Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency and aimed at construction businesses and their supply chain.

The Keynote speaker will be Martin Brown from Fairsnape who will talk about how to improve tender applications and understanding how social media can be used effectively to build your network for a successful bid.

Rod Hughes from 2030 Architects will be discussing the changes to Part L building regulations, Roland Hill are the case-study company of the day talking about how they have developed their businesses, an overview of renewable technologies and how CREA has assisted them.

This will be followed by breakout sessions on the benefits of EMS; a demonstration of aerial surveying technology by Walker Ellis; discussion of the next step in Site Waste Management Plans by Thomas Armstrong’s and a talk on how vehicle tracking technology can improve efficiency.

The afternoon will be introduced by Phil Jardine from Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster followed by a repeat of the breakout sessions so delegates have the chance to get as much information as possible. The day will be concluded by Martin Brown discussing the Green Deal and how construction companies can prepare themselves and be in the best possible position to win work in Cumbria. There will be a chance for networking and discussions with the speakers throughout the day and lunch will be provided. The event will take place at Lakes College, West Cumbria, in the new, state of the art SEN Centre.
