Creative industry to meet up with Energy Coast cluster

Cumbria’s creative and energy companies are being brought together at a networking event in Carlisle this week.

Creative and digital R&D company FreerangeArtists Ltd is hosting the meet-up which will bring together Creatives and Britains Energy Coast Business Cluster.

The evening event, held in Freerange Workspace, Carlyles Court, marks the beginning of a new Creative and Digital business cluster for BECBC, a privately funded members organization that provides networking, business, and knowledge sharing opportunities.

Phil Jardine is the Business Development Director for the Cluster said: “We’ve got a number of thriving specialist sector groups already and it is good to have this new connection and boost for the creative sector.

“We’ve a range of website, design, marketing and other creative industry member companies already and it is a thriving sector in and around Cumbria so we look forward to seeing new partnerships and, of course, new business coming out of the refreshed group.”

Creative Cumbria has been gathering together creatives from around the county at a number of previous informal events. The aims of Creative Cumbria are to raise the profile of the creative sector in Cumbria. to encourage collaboration between the creative companies in Cumbria and to to encourage the emerging creative talent (students and young people) to stay in Cumbria rather than leaving to ply their trade elsewhere.

Hannah Stewart of FreerangeArtists says : “We are excited to host this event and to start working together to develop and grow opportunities available in the creative and digital sector locally, Cumbria is home to some outstanding companies and very talented individuals, social media and emails are great but there’s nothing like meeting people face to face, perhaps over a beer to build relationships.

“Creative Cumbria meet-ups are a chance to meet potential associates and collaborators, fellow geeks / geekesses and generally leave the comfort of your computer screen and talk to other real live creatives face-to-face.”

The Creative Cumbria BECBC meet-up will be held at Freerange Workspace in Carlyle’s Court, Carlisle from 7pm onwards on Wednesday 27 June 2012. You can book online at www.creativecumbria.eventbrite.com or over the phone -01228401324.

People are welcome from any part of the supply chain, already working in the sector or those considering a career change, including : designers, developers/programmers, copywriters/editors, photographers, media production / film making/ broadcasting, PR/ events, social media, consultants, marketing and other professional creatives.
