Businesswoman sets up free CV workshop
Last updated at 12:03, Wednesday, 27 June 2012
A Penrith-based business woman is on a mission to help local job seekers to make the most of their CVs.
Julia Cater has 20 years of business experience inlcuding a decade as a recruitment and career management consultant and wants to share her expertise at a free workshop next week.
“It’s a tough job market at the moment and people need to sell their experience and qualifications and make sure their CV is spot on." she said, adding: “I do a lot of one- to-one work with people facing redundancy or wanting to return to work but I know that there are lots of other people out there who simply can’t afford that approach.
“The aim is to share some of the secrets that I’ve picked up over my career, focus on the necessities that absolutely have to be included in a CV and also to look at how best to write a personal statement or profile.
"This is something that has come into a modern CV and is crucial to current employers but a lot of returners and almost anyone over 30 won’t have learnt how to write this if they did their CV as a school leaver or graduate. We’ll have a look at some dos and don’ts during the workshop.”
“The aim is to help people to update and refresh their CVs to make an impact and to have the best chance of being selected for an interview in future.”
The free CV writing workshop is in Penrith on Saturday morning (9.30am to 11.30am, 7 July) in the Orange Room at Rowan House, above the Eden MIND cafe.
The workshop is free but, as refreshments will be provided, please let Julia know if you are planning to be there via www.jcsolutions.biz or via her colleague, June on 07834 884022.
