Barrow window firm reports sales surge

A CUMBRIAN window firm is on target to beat last year’s sales record, according to latest figures.
The first quarter results for 2012/3 show A Holden in Barrow is set to record its best sales results in 15 years of trading.
As with other areas of the retail sector, the Barrow-based uPVC specialist has seen difficult trading in recent years but managing director Anthony Holden said things “appear to be brightening up”.
Mr Holden said: “In 15 years of trading, it is looking promising that 2012/3 will be one of our best to date.
“First quarter results show that we are on target for breaking last year’s sales record. It has been hard work trading in these difficult times, but the results speak for themselves.
“The UK economy has been through a difficult time, but Barrow seems to be getting through it without too many scrapes. The difficult times are not over yet but things appear to be brightening up, if only the weather would do the same.
“As far as the local economy is concerned, I believe we are in a relatively good position in Barrow because our larger employers appear to have full order books, unemployment is relatively low, and for us the slight slowdown in the housing market has given us more customers. Customers who are not in a position to move home have instead been renovating and improving their properties.”
