ANDREA Wilson is the landlady at the Old Friends Inn in Ulverston.

The 47-year-old runs the pub, in Soutergate, with the help of her husband and daughter.

What was your first job?

Many moons ago I used to be a chef at the Shap Wells Hotel in Kendal.

How did you get your current job?

Me and my husband discussed it and decided that because our daughter was 10 we said if we didn’t do it then we wouldn’t ever do it.

Describe the company you own in one sentence.

What we are trying to aim for is a local community pub.

How many hours do you work a week?

Between 80 and 100 hours.

How many people are you responsible for?

There is myself and my husband and we have a lady who comes in on a Wednesday evening, which is my day off. And I have friends who help out when they can.

What’s your greatest achievement?

I would say that was the Gig in the Garden we did a couple of weeks ago. The place was packed and it was really good. We are hoping to do another one towards the end of summer.

What gives you the biggest work buzz?

Helping the community. We recently raised £210 for the Feature Youth Club in Croftlands. That afternoon it wasn’t a very nice day and I thought no-one would turn up but it was brilliant. It was really nice to give something back to the community

What’s your motto at work?

I don’t think we have one.

What’s the best thing about being a boss?

Being your own boss. You feel responsible for the people that come in the pub. It’s really good fun working here.

What’s the worst thing about being a boss?

I don’t think there is any downside to it, not even the long hours.

What’s your favourite website?

Facebook.

Your first car?

A Ford Escort that I got when I was 19. It was blue.

How do you relax?

Doing my garden and spending as much time as I can with my daughter.

What’s the best thing about doing business in Cumbria?

The people here are wonderful.

If we arrived at your office today, what item might we be surprised to find on your desk?

Piles of paperwork and invoices – things like that.

I used to be a cyclist. I was in the Barrow Central Wheelers.
