Duddon and Furness MRT help stricken teen in South Lakes

A MOUNTAIN rescue team was called out to help a stricken teenager who injured her ankle while on a Duke of Edinburgh training exercise.

The Duddon and Furness MRT received a call at 7.30pm last night and 22 team members responded.

They were called to a track on Walna Scar where they found the 16-year-old girl.

The team transported her down the hill to a waiting ambulance and she was taken to Furness General hospital with a suspected fracture.

Team president, Peter Jackson, said: "It was our 19th call out of the year. The team was stood down at 10.20pm."
