Drunk man was aggressive towards Carlisle police officers - court

A drunk Wigton man was arrested after becoming aggressive towards police officers and door staff outside Carlisle’s Walkabout nightspot.

At Carlisle Magistrates’ Court, 21-year-old Richard Geoffrey O’Keafe admitted a charge of being drunk and disorderly.

The incident happened early on February 12.

O’Keafe, of Waver Road, Anthorn, was being restrained by door staff when police officers intervened. He became aggressive towards them and was subsequently arrested.

The court heard he had received two fixed penalty notices for being drunk and disorderly in the past year.

He apologised for his behaviour, saying he couldn’t really remember the incident.

He was fined £125, plus £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
