FRIENDS and family helped a brave little girl celebrate her birthday and the end of her chemotherapy treatment.
Chloe Beecroft, has type one neurofibromatosis, a genetic disease which causes tumours to grow in various parts of the body.
Over the last 18 months Chloe, of Barrow, has had chemotherapy at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to shrink a tumour on the optic nerve of her left eye.
On Sunday the Brisbane Park Infant School pupil was surrounded by her friends and loved ones at the Barrow Engineers Club in Abbey Road to mark her seventh birthday and the end of the treatment.
Her mum Karen Beecroft, 37, said: “Chloe had a brilliant time, she loved the party, she danced and was singing.
“She was the life and soul of the party. It was nice to see her so happy.
“Chloe has been fantastic, she takes every day as it comes.”
Chloe’s family, of Parry Street, Hindpool, was keen to thank all the people who helped arrange the party.
They were given a free disco from Dance Masters, free room hire from the Engineers Club, a free three-tier cake from associates of Dance Masters and Keren Cargan of Zebedees provided free face painting for youngsters at the party.
Mrs Beecroft added: “I just want to say thank you to them (the businesses and individuals who donated prizes and entertainment).
“It was lovely. Words can’t describe it.”
The event raised £178 for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity which supports families of seriously ill children.
It is now hoped that Chloe can have her chemotherapy port removed on Thursday at the Manchester hospital.
Chloe’s condition will have to be monitored for the rest of her life.
