A networking group in Cumbria is organising a series of events that will bring the county’s digital community together.
Organisers of Wired Cumbria, the county’s digital networking group, are urging more of the county’s digital professionals and freelancers to gather in order to form powerful connections.
The group runs a variety of events including curry nights and freelancer meet-ups across the county.
The next “Wired Curry” will be held on Thursday May 19 at Rafiks in Carlisle, and a freelancer meet-up will take place at the Mint Works in Kendal on April 28.
Although the events are relatively informal, organisers say that collaborating as groups could lead to Cumbrian digital professionals landing bigger and more lucrative contracts.
Jonathan Davies, Wired Cumbria event organiser, said: “People who attend our events include web developers, designers, photographers and copywriters.
“Colalborating in Cumbria means that small businesses could bid for big tenders.
“In places like Manchester and Leeds there is lots of collaboration and we need to do the same in Cumbria to compete.
“We are opening a collaboration centre in Penrith in the next two or three months.”
