Cumbrian cannabis farm accused in court

A man and a woman have appeared before magistrates in Workington to face charges linked to the discovery of a £400,000 cannabis farm.
The pair – both Vietnamese nationals – were arrested after police raided a house and discovered 700 cannabis plants, together with heating and lighting equipment.
The defendants were named in court yesterday. The man was Tan Van Hoang, 38, and the woman Hien Thi Phan, 36.
No address was given for either defendant.
They are charged with being concerned in the production of the class B drug cannabis.
Magistrates remanded the defendants in custody until July 12.
On that day their case will be committed to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing before a judge.
The case came after police raided a property, on the outskirts of Flimby, on Wednesday. More than £1m worth of cannabis has been seized by police in west Cumbria this year.
