Cumbria Tourism launches Autumn visitors push
Last updated at 14:06, Thursday, 09 August 2012
Summer may still technically be here but Cumbria Tourism is working on getting visitors to the county this autumn.
The tourist board has rolled out a big national and international PR push to get journalists featuring events, hotels and activities to try in Cumbria during the final quarter of 2012.
It’s being backed by an adventure tourism marketing campaign to “carpet-bomb” the in-boxes of 30,000 potential visitors with an interest in the great outdoors to lure them to the Lake District and Cumbria, once summer has passed.
The digital marketing drive for the county is being led by the PR and e-marketing teams from its headquarters in Staveley, near Kendal.
Around 5,000 journalists and travel writers are being sent details of a series of upcoming events like the Carlisle Beer Festival, from November 1-3, and the city Fire Show.
The Taste Cumbria Food Festival weekend at Cockermouth on 29-30 September is also being trailed along with events like the Great Northern Cheese Festival in Penrith on Sunday, October 7.
Other events in Ullswater, Cockermouth and Ennerdale also feature.
Meanwhile, its adventure e-newsletter goes out to over 30,000 contacts who have all expressed an interest in the outdoors and aims to get visitors clicking through to the www.GoLakes.co.uk website to find out about a variety of activities such as mountain biking, climbing and paddlesports.
