Cumbria's jobless total falls for third month running

Unemployment in Cumbria fell in May for the third month running.
Official figures just released show there were 9,122 people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, 316 fewer than in April.
The county’s unemployment rate fell from 3.2 to 2.9 per cent.
Allerdale’s jobless total dropped by 74 to 1,982, giving the borough an unemployment rate of 3.4 per cent.
Copeland’s total fell by seven to 1,635 (3.7 per cent), Eden’s by eight to 429 (1.3 per cent) and Carlisle’s by 39 to 2,358 (3.5 per cent).
Nationally, the seasonally-adjusted claimant count rose by 8,100 to 1.6m.
But the rolling total, which includes people not eligible for Jobseeker’s Allowance, fell by 51,000 to 2.61m.
