Cumbria project offers latest in support and training

A NEW Cumbria-based technology development programme is to be launched next week.
Innovus is the result of funding through Britain’s Energy Coast and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and aims to encourage and support innovative technologies in Cumbria.
The programme will offer businesses and individuals access to the world-class facilities and technical and business support made available by the programme’s key partners, the University of Manchester’s Dalton Nuclear Institute and the National Nuclear Laboratory – as well as access to funding.
The Innovus programme, the first of its kind in Cumbria, will connect individuals and small-to-medium sized enterprises with end users, support and funding.
The launch event will take place on Tuesday at the campus in Workington.
Brian Hough, socio-economic manager for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, said: “Innovus is an excellent example of how ourselves, Sellafield Ltd and Nuclear Management Partners, through grant funding, can play an important role in developing the local economy and making West Cumbria a centre of excellence in energy-related technologies.”
