Cumbria A595 roadworks begin - week of delays possible

NEW road studs are set to be installed on the main road between South and West Cumbria.

The £52,000 Highways Agency project to repaint road marking and install new road studs along the A595 near Egremont in Cumbria will begin today.

The project, which is taking place between Bigrigg village and St Thomas Cross roundabout, is due to be completed by Friday.

Highways contractors will be working around-the-clock to deliver the improvements on both the northbound and southbound carriageway but work will be suspended at peak traffic hours during the morning and evenings. At other times temporary traffic lights will be used to manage vehicles past the roadworks.

A 50mph speed limit will be in place.
