Campaign to promote western Lake District to tourists

A national media campaign is underway to promote the western Lake District as a tourist destination.

Led by VisitEngland, and funded in part by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund, it sees the area featured in The Guardian and The Daily Mail and on Classic FM.

In addition, west Cumbria’s historic and cultural attractions, high quality food-and-drink and its variety of events and festivals are promoted on VisitEngland’s website.

Katie Read, manager of West Cumbria Tourism, said: “This is a powerful campaign, exposing west Cumbria’s spectacular coastline and its businesses to a huge national audience.

“We are delighted to have invested in it as it has provided us with the perfect opportunity to shout about many of the western Lake District’s lesser-known gems.

“It will be a wonderful showcase for our rich heritage and culture, outstanding local food and drink and inspiring events.”
