Barrow apprentices have plenty to get their teeth into

THREE dental experts from Barrow are smiling after being named as some of the best in the region at an awards ceremony.

John Worsley Dental Practice, in Hartington Street, took home the prestigious Employer of the Year trophy at Training 2000’s dental awards held at Mytton Fold, near Blackburn, at the end of last month.

And keeping it in the family, his 20-year-old daughter Georgia, an apprentice at her father’s surgery, was awarded a trophy for her achievements on a dental radiography course.

Mr Worsley said: “We have supported apprenticeships for a number of years so to have been recognised in this way is wonderful.”

Also recognised on the night was Kelsey Round, 20, from James Tomlinson Dental Practice in Furness Park Road, who received a Special Achiever award for her commitment and dedication.

Gail Warburton, dental team leader at Training 2000, said: “Achievements like this are a great example of how businesses and young people can work together to create a skilled workforce and allows individuals to gain a nationally-recognised qualification.”
