HOSPITAL staff are celebrating after taking a huge step forward in their career development.
Ten members of the catering services team at Furness General Hospital have bagged their catering and hospitality apprenticeship certificates, as FGH continues its drive to meet its Investors in People accreditation.
FGH works closely with Skills for health, Kendal College and the National Apprenticeship Service to help its staff gain new qualifications.
Barry Rigg, head of hotel services at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, which runs FGH, said: “The apprenticeship pathway and NVQ training has had a huge impact, encouraging the personal development of individuals and increasing their confidence, efficiency and understanding of their roles.
“Some of them did not think they were capable of gaining a qualification when they set out to attain it.
“The benefits to the business are invaluable.
“We have a more knowledgeable, motivated and happier workforce as a result.”
