RAISE a glass to The Fox and Hounds which has been voted the pub of the season by members of the West Cumbria branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).
The Ennerdale inn, which this year marked its first anniversary, became a co-operative after 174 people donated their own money to buy it and create a community hub in the village.
CAMRA members will present the award to the pub’s locals this Saturday (August 18).
George Bruce, of CAMRA, said: “The hard work of the staff and volunteers has paid off with such a vote of confidence by CAMRA members.
“The pub serves a good selection of locally brewed real ales with always a selection of beers from the Ennerdale brewery which is just 2.5 miles away at Croasdale. The good beers, along with excellent food, make it an ideal place to visit.’’
Mr Bruce said that the local beers were “always a big attraction for the many Coast to Coast walkers from all four corners of the world’’.
