Specialists from 13 different breweries came together to make a unique beer at a beer festival in Staveley.

Thousands of people turned up to the Northern Craft festival at Hawkshead Brewery’s headquarters.

The event was the brewery’s 10th summer beer festival and head brewer, Matt Clarke combined the talents of his northern contemporaries to make a “collab brew”.

Brewers from Magic Rock, Thornbridge, Pivovar, Ashover, Cloudwater, Marble, Quantum, Siren, Buxton, Fyne, Runaway and Roosters all contributed to the as-yet-unnamed creation.

Mr Clarke said: “I decided to ask many of my close friends, who also happen to be very talented Brewers to come together as a celebration of our 10th summer beer festival.

“Collaborations can showcase different brewers' talents and it's also a chance to share knowledge which can only benefit the brewing industry as a whole.”

The new brew is a one off and only 20 brewers' barrels, or 5,760 pints, will be made. Those attending the festival were able to watch the highly-hopped, session IPA being brewed.

During the festival, a pint was drunk every seven seconds and 243 casks and kegs, of 106 different beers from 29 breweries, were consumed.

Mr Clarke added: “We've been doing our summer beer festival now for 10 years and they keep getting bigger and better.

“With so many different and interesting beer styles it was easy to put together a beer list, we concentrated on showcasing northern craft breweries as many have been at the forefront in the new wave brewing scene.”
