An Ulverston accountancy is going from strength-to-strength after breaking away from one of Britain’s biggest accountancy firms.

RfM Accountants + more broke off from Haines Watts, the large firm it was part of, in January.

Almost a year on, the firm now has five branches across the North West, more than 50 staff and a group turnover of £2.5m.

2015 has been a busy year for the firm, acquiring two new branches, one in Lancaster and one in Fylde.

It is still affectionately referred to by many by the name it has carried for over 130 years - RF Miller & Co. Chartered Accountants.

The firm prides itself on offering an extensive service, hence its full name RfM Accountants + more.

RfM partner, Elaine Harris, said: “Since January when we launched the brand we have gone from three offices to five and the possibility of a sixth in the capital – that’s not bad going.

“People have joined us because they like the brand, they like our approach and they like how we deal with clients.

“Yes, it was a bold move leaving such a large company. But since we launched our own brand in January we haven’t looked back.

“We wanted to offer a fresh ethos and approach to accountancy and how we deal with clients. “But we felt those ideas didn’t fit into the business model when we were with Haines Watts.”

Prior to the RfM rebrand, the offices in Ulverston and Barrow had been HW (Haines Watts) RF Miller & Co for 10.

There is a possibility of other branches coming into the fold in the future, including a London branch.
