The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway has been nominated for a prize at The Bay Living Awards, in the Best Visitor Attraction or Event category.
A spokesman for the company said: "We are delighted to be shortlisted for the award.
"Our railway has a rich history, and was originally built for the once thriving industry in 1859, which is explained in our interactive railway museum. "Today, it is a well loved and popular tourist attraction taking visitor’s from the world heritage coastal village of Ravenglass, to England’s highest mountains."
The train runs across the estuary, through the hills, past seven request stops, with a 1:40 gradient at times, through to the final destination which is seven miles up the line at Dalegarth.
The spokesman added: "We would like to congratulate not only our team here, but all finalists.
"Thank you everyone in the Bay Living Awards team"
The Bay Living Awards, run by CN Group, parent company of in-cumbria and inTheBay, has its ceremony at Lancaster University on September 7.
