THE upcoming Taste Cumbria food and drink event in Cockermouth has been included in a high-profile website's 'Delicious Festivals' list.

HolidayLettings.co.uk - which is owned by TripAdvisor - has listed the event as one of 15 in the UK which will give people “serious lunch-envy”.

Saskia Welman, a spokeswoman for the website, said: “The food festival made it onto our list as it offers amazing food along with fine wine and traditional ale.

"With over 80 stalls selling food, drinks, and other delicacies, you’ll also be able to sample freshly mixed cocktails from the Lakes Distillery and delicious wines from Corney and Barrow.”

Taste Cumbria was set up in 2010 and has been run by CN Events for the last five years.

The next event takes place is in Cockermouth on Friday and Saturday (September 24-25,) with another special Christmas event in December. Other events were held under the Taste Cumbria banner in Keswick and Ulverston earlier this year.

Marie Whitehead, events director, said: "We bring £2.9m into the local economy and it is great for us to get recognised by someone like TripAdvisor, so we are delighted."
