SANDWICH chain Subway is opening its Penrith town centre outlet until 3am on Saturday and Sunday mornings to offer a healthy option to hungry clubbers.
The outlet in Middlegate only opened in May.
Franchisee Ross Fairbairn says the extended hours – at present the branch closes at 9pm – has created five full and part-time posts, taking the total number employed there to 14.
He said: “We will be offering a healthier and tastier alternative to the typical kebab and chips, which are usually served during the early hours.
“The full Subway menu will be available untill 3am."
The extended hours start this weekend after Eden Council granted a late-night food and beverage licence.
Pro-Tect UK of Carlisle will provide door security to ensure the safety of Subway's customers and staff.
Subway is a US firm whose outlets are operated by franchisees. Mr Fairbairn runs 11 outlets in Lancashire and Cumbria.
