South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) are set to launch consultation on building new homes on three sites across the district.

The council are seeking opinions on draft planning documents for sites in Endmoor and Burton-in-Kendal, and on early proposals for a similar document for a site in Holme.

Earlier today SLDC’s Cabinet approved draft development briefs for two sites – Green Dragon Farm, Burton-in-Kendal and north of Sycamore Close, Endmoor – to progress to the final consultation stage.

The development brief for land east of Milnthorpe Road in Holme is at an earlier stage of the process, but suggestions are being asked for.

Councillor Jonathan Brook, portfolio holder for housing and innovation, said: “As a council we are committed to help deliver new homes, including affordable homes both to rent and buy, across South Lakeland.

“The preparation of development briefs is an important aspect of setting guidelines for developers and helps us allocate land for the right type of development.”

From Thursday 6 April all relevant documents associated with the development brief consultations will be available on SLDC’s website at: www.southlakeland.gov.uk/development-briefs.

The documents can also be viewed during normal opening hours at South Lakeland House, or at Milnthorpe and Kendal libraries.
