In an unlikely collaboration, George Romney is producing a limited edition Kendal mint cake to mark the 21st birthday of US celebrity fashionista Kendall Jenner.

The confectionery firm was approached by the online fashion retailer Lyst to to create “Kendall Mint Cake”.

Kendall Jenner is a model and reality TV personality best known for appearing on Keeping Up With The Kardashians as Kim Kardashian’s half-sister.

She is one of the top 10 most-followed celebrities on Instagram and celebrates her birthday on Thursday.

Some 200 limited edition packages of the special birthday cakes are being given away by Lyst’s social media channels and one contains a golden ticket for some of the celebrity’s favourite items.

Paula Barron, director of George Romney, said: "When Lyst first approached us with the idea of a special 'Kendall' Mint Cake, we were intrigued.

“Why not give our iconic packaging a 21st century update for her 21st birthday?

“We love the quirky finished product, and hope that maybe it will inspire Kendall to one day visit the beautiful town of Kendal and the Lake District"

In the first packaging redesign for more than a hundred years, Lyst’s Kendall Mint Cake pays homage to Jenner and her squad including friends Cara Delevingne, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Hailey Baldwin.

Kendal Mint Cake has powered generations of mountaineers, explorers and British eccentrics since 1869 and was famously carried by Sir Edmund Hillary and his team on the first ever successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.

To win a limited edition Kendall Mint Cake and the Lyst fashion pieces, entrants need to post a picture of themselves ‘being adventurous’ on Instagram, tagging @lyst plus the hashtag #KendallMintCake.
