An Ambleside rescue services firm has acquired the assets of another company and rebranded.

Mountain Trauma Rescue Services was set up 10 years ago while founder Nick Wright was still at university.

Over the last decade the business has grown to employ 67 people registered to work at any one time including paramedics, doctors, rescue technicians, communications operatives and security personnel.

It has now rebranded as The Event Safety Group following the acquisition of the assets of Bowland Communications, an event specialist whose portfolio includes Keswick Mountain Festival and Born Survivor.

Paul Wilmore has joined The Event Safety Group from Bowland as a director.

He said: "Cumbria is nature's playground, and working in the natural home of the outdoor events market is a pleasure.

“The Event Safety Group has a wealth of experience including their work locally as well as nationally and I look forward to bringing my skills and assets to the group."

The Ambleside based business provides safety support nationally to outdoor events including triathlons, obstacle course races and many more including those organised by Red Bull and The Rat Race.

Mr Wright, said: “Health and safety at outdoor events is so wide ranging.

“From marshalling and route management to being ready for a medical emergency we can now offer a fully bespoke package to any outdoor event.

“The demand has been there and this acquisition means we are now a one-stop shop for event safety, making it much easier for event organisers.”
