THE boom in online shopping has prompted haulier Eddie Stobart to invest in a fleet of 50 specialist box trailers.
They will be set to work immediately, delivering time-critical cargoes for online retailers between national sorting centres and ‘final mile’ depots.
Able to accommodate a mix of loose parcels and roller cages, the fleet maximises efficiency and flexibility.
Neil Rowbotham, online fulfilment sector director at Eddie Stobart, said: “The new trailers will bring greater efficiencies and flexibility to our business by facilitating the fast and secure movement of loose parcels typical of online fulfilment but with the capacity to accommodate conventional wheeled cages as well."
The haulier started as an offshoot of an agricultural contracting business in Hesket Newmarket in the 1970s.
DBay Advisors, a private equity firm in the Isle of Man, bought 51 per cent of Eddie Stobart Logistics in 2014.
