The Nuclear Decomissioning Authority (NDA) is offering three fully-funded PhD opportunities.

These are designed to support the organisation's, which is based in moor Row, work at sites around the UK, including Sellafield.

The PhDs are in the areas of, conditioning of damaged and degraded spent nuclear fuel materials, plutonium stockpile immobilisation and the electrochemical treatment of nuclear wastes.

The first two would be completed at the University of Sheffield, with the latter studied for at Lancaster University.

A spokesman for the NDA said: "The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is sponsoring three fully-funded PhDs to support its strategic objective of ensuring that the UK's nuclear legacy sites are decommissioning and cleaned up safely, securely, cost-effectively and in ways that protect people and the environment."
