A NEW initiative to help small businesses recruit has been launched today.

Furness Newspapers has launched the scheme to give businesses an affordable platform to advertise their vacancies across three busy platforms.

Adverts will appear in the North West Evening Mail print edition as well as its online website and social media channels.

The new scheme is set to give small businesses access to thousands of people across South Cumbria in the search for new recruits.

Frank Stretton, commercial director of CN Group (Barrow), believes this is an opportunity not to be missed.

He said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses across South Cumbria to advertise their vacancies.

"Small firms can highlight their vacancies on three busy platforms, reaching a wider number of people and giving employers a better chance of finding that perfect fit.

"It also gives us the opportunity to support small businesses in the area and to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to helping small firms grow.

"This is a great opportunity for businesses to get excellent coverage both online and in print and to ensure a smooth but successful recruitment process."

Suzanne Caldwell, head of communications and business services at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, thinks this is a great resource for small firms.

She said: “I think the recruitment support is a good idea.

“A lot of small firms are put off advertising because of the costs involved and many small businesses do struggle to recruit.”

The scheme is due to be launched on Monday August 3 and any business with 20 or less employees are able to apply.
