A BUILDING site manager from Cumbria has won a regional title in the second round of the National House Building Council's (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards 2016.

Barry Pattinson, of Lattimer Homes in Mealsgate, was recognised for his work at Sheila Fell Close in Aspatria.

He was one of 12 site managers - the only one from Cumbria - to receive 'seal of excellence' awards at a ceremony in Manchester, and he was the outright winner of the 'small builder' category.

He goes forward to compete for the Supreme Awards in London in January.

Ian Davies, NHBC regional director, congratulated Mr Pattinson on his success.

He said: "It’s been a tough year of judging starting way back in July 2015 and it’s a long hard road to win a Pride in the Job Award.

"The awards recognise site managers who know how to go one stage better, whose hard work ensures we live in high-quality homes."

He added: "Recognising exceptional site managers like Barry Pattinson, Pride in the Job promotes continuous improvement in the quality of new homes, year on year."

The NHBC awards have been running for 36 years.

Lattimer has a great track record in the competition - director George Lattimer has won nine national awards, the most recent for James Duffield Close in Workington in 2013.
