In-Cumbria reveals the movers and shakers in Cumbrian the Cumbrian business world this week.

Solicitor Michael Bauer, who specialises in employment law, has been 'ticketed' to sit on employment tribunals hearing complex cases. 

Mr Bauer, 45, of Hesket Newmarket, runs Cumbria Employment Solicitors with fellow employment lawyer Jane Hunter. 

The firm provides employment law advice to employers and employees throughout Cumbria. 

Civil engineer R H Irving Construction has appointed Ian Johnstone as construction manager. 

Mr Johnstone, 40, joins the Longtown firm with 15 years’ experience as a project manager in the construction industry. 

Carlisle-based land and property adviser North Associates has made two key appointments. 

Simon de Vere, 48, has joined as commercial director, delivering major projects and leading the disposal of assets for clients. 

And Susheel Das, 34, has been recruited as a chartered town planner at North Associates' planning consultancy, Taylor & Hardy. 

Cumbrian-based mobile phone software company Penrillian has appointed a new chief executive, as it looks to accelerate its growth strategy. 

Joanne Thompson, 51, was previously head of commercial solutions at the passport and bank note printer De La Rue. 

She has also held senior positions with Serco, BT, and run her own consultancy business. 

Cumbria law firm Harrison Drury has appointed experienced lawyer Simon Price to head up its people and client development functions as it seeks further growth in the region. 

Simon, whose experience includes roles with national and international law firms, including DWF and DLA Piper, has been appointed a director at the firm which has an office in Stramongate, Kendal.
