In-Cumbria brings you the latest movers and shakers in Cumbrian business.

Story Group has continued to expand with a further three appointments.

Susan Venables has been appointed learning and development manager for Story Construction, based at Burgh Road, Carlisle, joining their growing HR team.

She will cover the firm’s Plant, Rail and Construction divisions across the north west, north east and Scotland. She was previously performance and development manager for Dixon’s Car Phone for 18 years.

Dexter Routledge has been appointed land devlopment manager at Story Contracting with a remit to develop a new house building arm of the Construction division called Story Select.

Also based at Burgh Road, Dexter comes from Story Homes where he was production manager.

Patrick O’Connor, 20, joined Story Contracting as an apprentice from System IT two years ago and has been given a full time post as IT support engineers.

Two solicitors have just qualified at Carlisle law firm Cartmell Shepherd, and two more have been taken on as trainees.

James Kidd, 24, from Brampton and Matthew Rogers, 26, from Carlisle, have both been admitted to the roll of solicitors after completing a two-year training contract.

The two new trainee’s aree Rebecca Miller, 25, from Carlisle and Winter Addis, 29, from Little Salkeld.

The auctioneer Harrison & Hetherington has appointed four apprentice livestock auctioneers.

All are farmer’s sons: Joe Bowman, 21, is from Tarn Row, Brampton where his family run Brampton Fell Farm; Paul Gardner, 17, is from Glebelands Farm and Roweltown, Joel McGarva 17 comes from Wauphill, Newton Stewart and Ryan Munro, 17, is from Lairg in Scotland.
