Industry leaders in digital connectivity, search technologies and social media will feature at the region’s latest Google event this week.

Hosted by in-Cumbria.com at Furness College’s Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Centre, the event includes guest speakers, Q&A pannels and networking opportunities for businesses interested in maximising their online presence.

Over 100 businesses have signed up to be part of Thursday’s event in Barrow.

Beth Cook, Senior SEO Executive of SearchQuest, will be leading the event with her "Debunking the myths of SEO" presentation.

The talk will discuss Search Engine Optimisation from the personal accounts of one of the UK’s leading internet marketing and SEO agencies.

“We will discuss SEO with a more personal, less technical approach that will allow business owners to gain a better understanding of what SEO is in 2016 and how it is relevant to them, while also debunking some common myths about SEO.” - Bethany Cook (SearchQuest)

In an exciting addition to some previously advertised listings, the Barrow session will also feature Sergeant Rupert Anderson of Barrow police talking about how the force has used social media. Delegates will also hear from Joanne Holborn (Baines Wilson LLP) on social media and the law as well as an update on the superfast broadband rollout from Phil Ruston (Connecting Cumbria).

The day will be rounded off with two workshops from Google staff on best practice in using Google technologies to increase customers and in utilisation of their Google Analytics software.

Nick Turner, digital strategy manager at CN Group, said: “Our previous Google Garage events have seen more than 150 businesses in attendance.

“We’re now looking forward to bringing this next event to the business community in Barrow”

Attendees are advised that the events will begin promptly at 8:30am on the 1st of December 2016, immediately following a brief networking opportunity over breakfast from 8am.

The event is sponsored by Connecting Cumbria, Baines Wilson LLP and Furness College.
