The Lake District beat competition from London and Cornwall to be declared the UK's top destination at a recent awards ceremony.
At the Wanderlust Magazine 2016 awards, held at the Destinations Travel Show at Olympia, London, the national park won the UK category, with London coming in second and Cornwall third.
The category had a mixture of urban and landscapes entries, with Bath nudging up to number 8 and Edinburgh remaining at number four, and a good showing for the north with Northumberland at five and the Peak District at six.
Full results of the awards can be found on the Wanderlust website and will then feature in the April edition of Wanderlust on sale on March 17.
