Marine engineering firm, James Fisher and Sons, has announced a £1.5m takeover deal.

The company - which has its headquartered in Barrow and a plant in Egremont - has acquired the entire share capital of rotor blade repair firm, Rotos 360, based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

The deal could grow to £5m depending on profit targets in the next three years.

Rotos360 works in the inspection, repair and reconditioning of wind farm rotor blades, mainly in the offshore market.

The business was established in 2013 as part of a Government-funded research project to reduce the cost of operation and maintenance of offshore wind turbines.

James Fisher is currently supporting the construction of the Galloper Wind Farm, located off the coast of Suffolk.
