FORD World Rally team M-Sport has scooped a top business award for the motorsport industry.

The Dovenby-based firm was announced winner of the Motorsport Industry Association’s Business of the Year at its Business Excellence Awards.

The sell-out event, at Birmingham last week, was part of the Autosport International Show and saw more than 500 international guests come together to recognise the achievements of the industry over the past 12 months.

M-Sport was among winners in six other categories.

Chris Aylett, chief executive of the association, said: “M-Sport is a real testament to British motorsport passion and expertise. With almost four decades of successful motorsport innovation behind them, M-Sport operates both the Ford WRC programme, as well as delivering a thriving business for private teams and supplying cars to various series such as WRX.

“With business at M-Sport going from strength-to-strength – and the recent signing of the reigning FIA World Rally Champion, Sebastien Ogier, and current WRC Driver of the Year, Ott Tänak, to the 2017 M-Sport World Rally Team – this world leader in engineering expertise is certainly playing its part in safeguarding the reputation of British motorsport.

“We’d like to congratulate the supply chain for the passion, drive and commitment to excellence which ensures global renown.”

The awards highlight the excellence in the motorsport and high performance engineering industry.
