A STATE-of-the-art trampoline park is due to open in Carlisle later this year.

Those behind the brand new facility - which will take up a site in the Willowholme Industrial Estate - hope it will be open by the middle of October.

When complete the centre will include a series of interconnected trampolines, angled walls, roll-over platforms, "slamdunk" basketball nets, grab bags and trick airbags.

As well as the jumping and trampoline areas the site will also boast party rooms and a café serving hot and cold refreshments.

3D designs released exclusively to in-Cumbria.com show the 22,000sq ft centre will look when it comes to fruition.

It will be the city's first dedicated trampoline park and will join The Jump Mania facility in Workington as the craze continues to grow.

The facility has not yet been named by the firm behind it, a business listed in planning papers as The Jump Company (Carlisle) Ltd.

The plans were drawn up by Harrison-Ince architects, from Manchester.

Lee Stamps, a senior interior architect at Harrison-Ince, said: "Visitors to existing UK trampoline parks have commented on how this trampolining experience is not only fun and challenging but also an alternative form of high-intensity exercise which is suitable for all age groups.

"The facility will encompass a professional trampoline atmosphere with the highest standards of quality and service."

Beyond a simple trampolining warehouse, the facility will encompass Olympic-standard apparatus suitable for all ages and offer professional classes.

Mr Stamps added: "A new and exciting concept in indoor trampoline parks is coming to Carlisle, providing leisure, health and fitness.

"The intent is to provide exceptional service within state-of-the-art facilities that allow the public to pursue an active, fun and healthy lifestyle through trampolining."

It is believed that the venture could create up to 50 jobs.
