A CUMBRIAN hotel group has carved out a niche in catering for pagans and others who want to celebrate the summer solstice.
Lake District Hotels saw 31 guests from as far away as Essex take advantage of a special two-night dinner, bed & breakfast break.
The stay at the Lodore Falls Hotel and Borrowdale Hotel in Borrowdale, or the Inn on the Square, Skiddaw and Kings Arms in Keswick, was combined with a 3am guided walk on Monday to celebrate the summer solstice sunrise at Castlerigg Stone Circle.
The break is one of very few of its kind in England.
Leah Davies, marketing and events manager for the family-owned chain, said: “Our annual guided walk allows visitors to see the Lake District in a different light and gives them the opportunity to join in and be part of the ceremony.
"This is the third year that we’ve run the event and it keeps growing in popularity.
"I’ve already got my fingers crossed for nice weather for the 2017 summer solstice.”
