A former car salesman had admitted fraud.

Alistair Lee Bradshaw, 43, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation between December 1, 2014 and April 20, 2015.

North and West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court was told the defendant, of Charles Street, Carlisle, was employed by a garage in the Kingstown area of the city. He carried out a number of sales transactions from clients and started to keep some of the money which in total amounted to £1,098.

District Judge Gerald Chalk was told that Bradshaw had three previous offences of theft from an employer.

Michael Garstang, mitigating, said his client has had problems with drink and this was the catalyst for this offending but he is seeking help.

Bradshaw was given a prison term of 90-days, suspended for one-year. He has to complete 90 hours of unpaid work in the community and pay compensation of £1,089.
