Up to 70 jobs are set to be created at a huge centre featuring nearly 90 interconnected trampolines.

The Energi Trampoline Park in Carlisle will also have attractions including a climbing wall, basket ball hoops and assault courses.

The new leisure set-up on the Willowholme Industrial Estate will stage specialist sessions such as times for toddlers.

The firm, which has a state-of-the art park in Preston, was keen for Carlisle to be its second location.

New images for the centre, due to open mid-October, show the layout of the 22,000sq ft interior.

"We identified it as a place where we could bring a really fun activity," said Steve Jeffery, general manager of Energi Trampoline Park Preston.

"It seems to be the latest trend of activity for youngsters and adults and families to do as a whole.

"It really has taken off quite dramatically.

"I think it's to do with the fact that you forget how much fun bouncing up and down on a trampoline is and when you've got all these trampolines connected together, it brings out - especially for the adults - the inner child in you."

Plans drawn up by Harrison-Ince architects, from Manchester, show that when it come to fruition the space will feature 89 interconnected trampolines.

There is a 12ft climbing wall, slam dunk hoops and "interactive cardio walls".

There will also be "battle beams, ninja assault courses" and a host of fitness sessions.

These will include an autism friendly session, toddler session and Energi Beat - the company's flagship session for 11 to 17-year-olds where for two hours every week the lights go down and the music gets turned up.

The facility will encompass two Olympic-standard performance trampolines and a mezzanine cafe.

Mr Jeffery said there were many benefits of what has become a growing sport in recent years.

"It's really good to get out and have fun but get fit at the same time," he added.

"Even if you're just bouncing around for an hour having the most fun you've ever had, actually it's unbelievably good for you.

"A study carried out found that 10 minutes bouncing on a trampoline is a better cardiovascular workout than 33 minutes of running."

Added to that the sport is said to improve balance, stimulate the metabolism and increase energy and vitality.

Energi Trampoline Park Carlisle is due to open seven days a week, though opening times are yet to be confirmed.

Jobs are due to be advertised at the start of next month and recruitment days will be held in mid to late September.

Recruits don't need trampolining experience.
