A SUCCESSFUL business in the north of the county is set to expand and open a new premises in south Cumbria.

More Handles, which is based at the Kingstown Industrial Estate in Carlisle, is to open an outlet in Kendal at the town’s Westmorland Business Park.

The move comes after the company established itself as a leading ironmongery specialist.

The company’s managing director Paul Rheinbach was delighted to announce the news.

He said: “I am extremely proud of the whole team and place the continued success of the company down to the team spirit, which still maintains a family ethos despite employing over 30 people now.”

“We sell more than just handles,” he added.

“We sell tools, fixings, adhesives, mastics, work-wear and pretty much everything for trade & DIY. Not only that, but we’re also up to 70 per cent cheaper than the larger DIY stores.

“The launch of our new store will widen availability for customers.”

The company was set up in 2007 and is a specialist in architectural ironmongery. It has said that it has the largest range of door and window hardware of any such business in the UK.

It caters to retail customers, DIY hobbyists, property developers, builders, and joiners.

The firm has a substantial online presence alongside its trade counter and showroom service in Kingstown.

It has been involved with the Carlisle Ambassadors scheme and last year 12 members of staff spent a day restoring the Melbourne Park Football Pavilion in Botcherby.

This new venture will target residents and traders in both the south Cumbria and north Lancashire areas.

The trade counter in Kendal is due to open in November and the company has arranged for Lakeland Radio – part of CN Group, which also owns in-Cumbria – to announce the opening day with a countdown and live broadcast on the day of opening, which has not been confirmed.
