Recently qualified chartered accountants Kate Brown and Dani Shortland are emerging as rising stars after being shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Both Kate and Dani, who work for Carlisle firm Dodd & Co, have been nominated for a Northern Society President's award which covers accountancy firms from across the north of England.

The 24-year-olds passed their final Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) exams less than a year ago having begun their careers straight from school through the apprenticeship programme at Dodd & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, which has its head office at Rosehill.

Alison Johnston, staff partner at Dodd & Co said: “We are very proud of Kate and Dani for continuing to excel in their achievements and for their consistent contribution to the team.

"Both continue to be determined and driven in providing the best service to our clients and deserve their nominations.

"We’re particularly impressed that unlike many awards, they are being recognised by their own Institute and not by their own self-promotion. We wish them both the very best of luck in the final.”

Dani currently specialises in farming accounts while Kate has experience in a number of areas including farming and family business. She is also a member of the Dodds cloud accounting team.

The awards will be presented at the Northern Society Business and Awards Dinner in Newcastle on October 13 where guest speaker will be Steph McGovern, BBC Breakfast business journalist.
