THERE is a new landlord at The Joiners Arms at Newton Arlosh, near Kirkrbide.

Owners Darren Maddison and Angela Clark had been offering The Joiners for sale - with an asking price of £240,000 - or for rent at £10,000 per annum, through the through specialist Cumbrian commercial and licensed property agent Mere Commercial.

It has been let to Chris Robinson, an experienced publican, who is relocating from Dumfries and Galloway.

The Joiners Arms has two bars and seating areas with wood panelled walls plus a rear car park and seating terrace.

Despite the demise of many country pubs, Duncan Young, director of Mere Commercial, believes it has a bright future.

He said: “The property has enormous potential from its existing facilities to develop the trade.

"The licensed property sector has seen a busy period in 2016 with a number of pubs in Cumbria and the Lake District being sold or let.”
