A TEAM team from Ast Signs in Penrith has completed the Three Peaks Challenge - which involves climbing the three highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland in under 24 hours.

The fund raising effort was the idea of Anna Aston, the wife of Ast Signs' managing director Mark Aston, as a way of raising funds for the charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

The seven-strong team from Ast completed the ascents of Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike within the requisite 24 hours.

Later in the year Mrs Aston plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for the same cause.

She also plans to throw a charity ball - Anna’s Diamond Ball - at Warwick Hall, Warwick-on-Eden, on Saturday September 24.

Tables cost £500 including a drinks reception and dinner. To book tickets, call her on 07970 819902.
