Bacon butties and an afternoon of golf are on the cards for players who turn out for a charity tournament later this month.

Cumbrian law firm Burnetts is hosting the event which is expected to raise at least £3,500 for the Great North Air Ambulance and the St James's Place Foundation which provides funding for charities.

More than 70 people from 15 firms across the region will take part in the annual Inter Professionals Charity Golf Day on August 22 at the Close House Resort in Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland.

Organiser, Burnetts partner Richard Miller, said: "There has been a fantastic response from local professionals with the event likely to be fully booked.

"Close House is undoubtedly one of the best courses in northern England and the chance to play there has been a great attraction.

"With a full afternoon of golf and a post-game barbecue, this will be a great networking event for the region’s leading professionals at an unbeatable golfing venue.”

The event is being supported by Carlisle firm, Rachael Bell Wealth Management with sponsors including Clark Door, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Liquid Studios, SWH Surveys Ltd, H&H Insurance and Hyde Harrington chartered surveyors.

Rachael said: “We have been involved with this annual golf event for three years now and its enduring success is a testament to inter-professional relationships here in Carlisle and Cumbria.

"We look forward to the day every year. Good fun, hopefully great weather, and of course in the process raising a large sum for our fantastic charities.”

The day will begin at 11am with bacon sandwiches and coffee before tee off at 12.30pm. Each team will play 18 holes of golf on the resort’s Lee Westwood Filly Course.

In previous years, the event was organised by Scott Harrington of Hyde Harrington.
